An Orderly Account

O’ Theophilus,

Inasmuch as many Christians have undertaken to write about the work of God that has been done in their lives, just as the human authors of Scripture who were present at time of the events of which they wrote delivered to the Christians of their day and after, it seemed good to me also, having studied and walked the truths of the Christian Bible for some time now, to write an orderly account of my life and journey to you, most excellent Theophilus, that you may find certainty in the power of the gospel through the witness of a fellow believer.

This is the purpose and end of these entries: to proclaim the kingdom of God and teach about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance, through the mind and life of a fellow Christian.

I look forward to inviting you into parts of my journey through this journal. In the meantime, I leave you with this thought. In reflection of my purpose both here and in life recently, I am growing more sensitive to the responsibility to carry the gospel that I have received well, in both word and deed. Today, I reflected on this duty once more, and the corresponding need to cultivate my mind and life to present and demonstrate this gospel more richly and fully everyday. Pray for me in this endeavor, and I will pray the same for you, Theophilus.

“Now to Him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen” (Rom. 16:25-27, ESV).

Grace be with you,

caleb
